July 2 Friday, 10:00 pm

Starting point: Gordon Biersh Bar & Restaurant. I'm not sure where we will be riding.

Tentative Route: Down the Embarcadero to Marina Green to Union Street, Broadway, etc. I think we might try some hills......... What a workout!!

The lights are too bright................. I can't see you.......

Whew.......... we made it!!!

Vista Point.............. But we can't see anything!

Hey......... Where's the Taxi!!!

Good thing I rode with Flavio (EMT)......

And this is what the evening looked like...................

June 11
10:00 pm: We had 6 bike riders for our first bike ride around the city. I forgot my camera and didn't get any pictures of the fun times. Thanks to Heiko and friend, Flavio and his wife Pam, and Nasco.
We rode down the Embarcadero to Fishermans warlf, down Polk Street to O'Farrell to Grant, through Chinatown and North Beach to Battery and Market and back to our original starting point
Gordon Biersh Bar & Restaurant.
The ride only took 75 minutes but we had a great time riding through the city. We may plan a night ride over the Golden Gate Bridge and Back to the Marina on the Fourth of July.

Equipment Needed:

Da................. a bike......... any type of bike. A mountain bike will make riding the hills of SF a little easier.

Warm clothing: Wear layers of clothing. This will make it easier to cool off if you worked too hard. As you all know, different parts of the city have "warm" and "cool" spots.

Gloves: Bike gloves are great if your hands get cold. Since we have cool weather, I recommend the gloves with palm pads. Gloves cost between $10 to $30.

Helmet: You will need a helmet. Its a good safety precaution. Sometimes your ukemi may not help if you fall off and hit your head on the pavement.

Head light and rear reflector: A head light makes it a little easier to see at night. Not a real necessity but helpful. Rear lighted reflector is a must. This makes it easier for cars and people to see you as you ride on the street. The head light and rear reflector can be bought at bike stores or at Target. The price ranges from $15 (target) to $30 plus. The rear reflectors are cheaper at Target. But if you want to get a head light, I recommend you go to a bike shop. The cost for a good bright headlight is about $20. I use a zefal:hf635 headlight. Its really bright.

Don't worry if you don't know how to attach these items to the bike. We can help you with that.

As you can see, you can buy allot of "stuff" for your bike.

Biking at night in the City is GREAT. But if you don't like exercise.... I don't recommend it.
